Smurf attack noun phrase slang
A denial-of-service (DDOS) attack that fakes the source IP of an intended target and utilizes it to broadcast enormous quantities of Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) packets to a large computer network in order to receive an overwhelming amount of responses and cause a denial of service.
We keep being hit by smurf attacks from anonymous groups.
