British informal This phrase is used to refer to the period of time which is overmidnight or dawn ( from 1 a.m to 5 a.m), this is the time when doing anything is considered unreasonable, since this is the period for relaxing, sleeping. The phrase also expresses your annoyance, hatred or incapability, pessimistism in doing something that you are forced to do.

What ?? There is really a high school reunion at 6 a.m tomorrow ?? If I survive over this stupid o'clock then I may go as I have to stay up late to write my essay.

British informal The phrase is expressed when you are awake at the time people are asleep (from 1 a.m to 5 a.m), you are exhausted and very much want to be sleeping too, however, you are awake at stupid o'clock because :
- You are grumpily doing work to meet your deadline.
- You havent yet gone to sleep because you are lazily/ foolishly wasting times ( surfing the web, playing video games, talking to friends, watching TV,...).
- You have to awake earlier than your usual time because you have an important event.
- You are deeply inspired by something or in the mood of composing/ inventing and can not stop working on your personal project. (This is a rare usage of the phrase)
